Most Puzzling Places on Earth

Stonehenge - Easter Island Earth View

Our planet Earth is a miraculous and mysterious place. Everyday archeologists uncover new artifacts that often times can be explained by other tangible evidence located near the dig site. However, there are some things from our ancient ancestors that leave even the most educated specialists stupefied. These artifacts often gain theories for their use from things like human sacrificial rituals, to extraterrestrial life. Here are some of the most puzzling of these discoveries.

Easter Island

Easter Island

In the southeastern Pacific Ocean on a small Polynesian island, a group of monolithic structures was discovered. The Easter Island Heads commonly referred to as Moai, are believed to have been built between 1250 and 1500. Which is significantly earlier than most of the surrounding area. The purpose of the Moai remains a mystery to this day. However, most scholars believe they were erected to honor the ancestors of the tribes that once inhabited the island.

Stonehenge

Stonehenge

Indisputably one of the most mysterious places in the world Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in England. While they are shrouded in folklore and traditions no one is actually sure what the ancients of England used the stone monoliths for. Along with other theories of aliens and living Nordic gods, is a macabre theory that suggests that the site was used as a place of human sacrifice and sexual rituals by a pagan civilization.

Nazca Lines

Nazca Lines

In the middle of the Nazca Desert in Peru the Nazca Lines were discovered. They are believed to have been created between 400 and 650 AD. The Nazca Lines are a cross between crop circles and hieroglyphs. Theorists say they may have been created to map astrological locations, or where used as spiritual monuments. While there is some evidence to support these theories, the biggest problem remains. How where the ancient Nazca’s able to create the massive depictions of animals like sharks spiders, and monkeys without the ability of flight to see them?
