As summer draws to its close, modern day families begin gathering their needs for the coming winter. Except now instead of food that will hold up to the long cold months its lists full of pens, paper, binders, and other odds and ends. If you are shopping for your students back to school needs we have a few suggestions to add to their must have lists that will help you, and them, transition smoothly and successfully back into the school routine.
Picture it: It’s Monday morning and your alarm goes off, you rise out of bed p feeling tired and not knowing how you are going to get through getting the kids up and off to school and manage your workload today let alone the whole week! Let me introduce you to carnelian, a wonderful orange crystal. The energy of carnelian is very motivating with a lovely safe holding feel to it. If you place a small tumbled polished piece in your pocket or around your neck (some ladies place it in their bra) for the week, you will achieve what you have set out to do and more! For children getting used to a shifted sleep schedule this can be especially beneficial. Your whole family will reach the end of the week with a real sense of achievement feeling energized and positive.
Clear Quartz is another great crystal for students. Clear Quartz is considered the most versatile crystal. It can be programmed for any intent and brings clarity to the mind. Quartz is one of the most abundant minerals on the planet, which makes very easy to obtain at very reasonable prices. It is the perfect starter crystal. For the student purposes, it doesn’t matter if the crystal is tumbled, raw, or a point. Simply choose the one that draws your attention or let the student in your life pick out their own. Clear Quartz often contains internal rainbows that bring an added beauty and joy to the person carrying this crystal.
If you happen to have young students just starting their first year of school you both may benefit from Rose quartz. It has very soothing properties that can be great for separation anxiety. It will help you both hold onto that “I am loved” feeling throughout the day. Consider getting matching rose quartz keychains together to reinforce that positive association. If you cannot find rose quarts, both amethyst and blue lace agate can also help calm the nerves and promote restfulness.
If you are attempting to target a specific problem like add or shyness here are a few more directly targeting crystals.
Disorganization: Let Fluorite assist with clearing out clutter and finding routines that encourage organization.
Shyness: Blue Lace Agate and Amazonite can be helpful for finding their voice and sharing their thoughts in and out of class.
Making Friends: Green Aventurine has a loving, calming, nurturing yet happy energy that allows us to appreciate ourselves and others.
Grounding/Protection: Hematite, for teens, and Red Jasper, for any age, can help ground and center children and adults, making them less vulnerable to energy attacks and bullies.
ADD/ADHD: Many people have found Moonstone helpful for students (and adults!) who struggle with this. A friend of mine who taught students with this issue put a few pieces of it around her classroom and found it helped settle the students into a calmer, more focused routine.
Energy-Sensitive Children: For those who are overwhelmed by all the constantly fluctuating energies of the school environment, Black Tourmaline, Black Obsidian, and Garnet can help ground and protect them, allowing them to concentrate more comfortably on their schoolwork.
